Mara Plains Camp is in the private Olare Orok Conservancy, on the border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This is one of our favorite camps in Kenya, it is absolutely stunning and is one of the most luxurious in the Maasai Mara.
Sweeping views across the plains and river, terrific food and a warm and friendly vibe are part of the reason to go to Mara Plains. The luxurious accommodation and terrific game viewing make this property a must.
Mara Plains Camp has all the upmarket appeal and quality of service you could hope for, but still maintains a down-to- earth and friendly atmosphere. The décor is the campaign safari style at its best. Spacious safari tents on raised wooden decks are elegantly decorated and have big copper bathtubs, rain showers and verandahs where you can admire the lovely setting.
Attention to detail is part of the package – the vehicles have Swarovski binoculars for guests and you are loaned a super-zoom Canon camera while at the camp, both of which are terrific for game viewing.
Mara Plains benefits from the exclusivity of a private concession with an extensive traversing area in a high-density game region. This high quality game-viewing is only accentuated by their outstanding guiding, including Ping whom we highly recommend.
Mara Plains was founded by the much-respected Great Plains Conservation which owns Zarafa, Selinda Camp and Duba Plains some of the most luxurious, sustainable and conservation minded properties in Botswana. Mara Plains and its little sister Mara Toto lives up to those high standards.
