Saruni Mara is in the Mara North Conservancy, built into the hillside and overlooking the lush valley below. It is a solid 4-star property and a favorite of ours. The accommodation, service and guiding are excellent and you will always be well looked after.
Spacious rooms are elegantly decorated and have beautiful views from a wooden deck. The main areas include a living space with an open fire pit, extensive decks, a library and a dining room where tasty, Italian-style meals are served. Saruni Mara is ideal for guests who are looking for a camp but don’t want to stay in a tent. It has the solid feel of a hotel, but is intimate and small.
Saruni Mara has close ties with the Maasai community and you can see their daily life when you visit the village, school and artwork workshop. This is a wonderful activity for kids who always seem to enjoy going into the schools, meeting the children and getting their faces painted.
Game drives are exciting with great game viewing in both the privacy of Mara North and access to the main Mara reserve though the camp is located in the northern part of Mara North, so you should be prepared for quite a drive to reach the reserve. Walking safaris are also available with qualified guides for those who want to stretch their legs and explore on foot. For those who need a little pampering, the spa is available for treatments. Saruni Mara and is a terrific place for honeymooners, who are accommodated in their own beautiful suite or for families in the exclusive-use and fully serviced 2 bedroom Nyati House (a 5-minute drive from the main camp).
We love the Saruni properties, so we recommend guests pair Saruni Mara with Saruni Samburu, which has a real “wow” factor.
